​​​​​​​​​​The current pandemic has highlighted the fundamental role of regional and local authorities in delivering healthcare and social and economic recovery. They will continue to bring their added value to the key European Union policies, in particular in the green and digital transitions, and in rebuilding trust with citizens. 
 
The Conference on the Future of Europe gives an opportunity to reflect on the functioning of democracy within the EU, and to reinforce how regional and local authorities take part in the EU's decision-making processes, based on the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality.
 
This high-level, online event will comprise representatives from the EU and from national and regional parliaments and governments, discussing the future role of regions in the EU. Check here the Agenda​. ​​​
